Information technology (IT) relates to software applications and computer hardware. This includes design and development, application and implementation, support and management of information.

IT has been one of the fastest growing industries since it began in the 80’s. IT now is a broad based sector and covers specialism’s such as; programming, networks, software engineering, web design, website management and sales.

Yorkshire and the Humber has the potential to become the country's leader in the use and services available for IT. Currently a third of the country’s Internet traffic is routed through Leeds.
