Yorkshire and The Humber IT & Telecoms Businesses To Be Showcased At New Exhibition And Conference

28 September 2010

techmesh, the IT & Telecoms business network for Yorkshire and the Humber, has announced that its inaugural exhibition and conference will take place this Thursday, September 30, at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

The conference will feature a number of break-out sessions, providing attendees an opportunity to listen for free to keynote speakers from some of the leading IT & Telecoms businesses in the world. These include: Google, Microsoft, Virgin Media, Xerox, Mitel, Netsuite, VMware and Crypto Card.

The techmesh EXPO is the first IT and Telecoms focussed business event to be held in Yorkshire and the Humber for over five years.

Gary Rowbotham, techmesh programme manager, said: “The techmesh EXPO is an opportunity for Yorkshire and the Humber’s IT & Telecom sector to demonstrate their products, services and new developments.”

“We have consistently seen companies in the region engaging with businesses elsewhere who were unaware of the availability and quality of companies available to them. techmesh aims to make this EXPO one of the most successful the region has seen.”

The event is sponsored by inTechnology, the UK’s largest pure-play managed IT service provider, Simply-Does-IT, a newly-formed business with the objective of reducing IT costs and Leeds-based cloud computing hosting-service provider virtualDCS.

Simply-Does-IT will offer EXPO delegates an opportunity to win an iPad. The offer is available to anyone who supplies them with an introduction to a business who buys NetSuite in the next 6 months.

NetSuite Inc. is the industry's leading provider of cloud-based enterprise resource planning and financial suites. Merrill Kindred, Channel Director at Netsuite, is one of the keynote speakers; this is the first event outside of London that Netsuite have presented at.

By accessing data, software and services online through the internet instead of onsite is called ‘Cloud Computing’ and is currently one of the fastest growing trends in the industry.

Node4 is one of the many Yorkshire based businesses exhibiting on the day. The Sunday Times Tech Track 100, sponsored by Microsoft, has ranked Node4 in 45th position as one of the UK's fastest growing privately owned technology based companies in the prestigious 2010 league table.

Caltech CRM, based in Batley, will be showcasing the Beta version of Microsoft CRM 2011 Online on their stand at the exhibition.

Phil Callaghan managing director of Caltech CRM says, “Microsoft Dynamics CRM provides high value for our customers, along with an architecture that enables us to easily tailor CRM to fit the specific needs of organisations. The new release of Microsoft CRM 2011 is very exciting.”

Blue Kite Software will be exhibiting on the day and celebrating their recent elevation to FileMaker Business Association Platinum Status, the only company in the North of England to be awarded this recognition.

Refractiv, who develop next generation websites, will be showcasing their Google Apps solution. More than two million businesses currently run Google Apps as it can be a viable and cheaper alternative to using traditional, server based office packages.

Blue Kite software will demonstrate their newly developed e-clinic on the day. First released in 1997, e-clinic is the most popular clinic management software for aesthetic and cosmetic clinics. The software has been recoded and redesigned from the ground up.

Jim Farmery, Assistant Director of Business at Yorkshire Forward, which is supporting the event, said:

“The digital industry in the Yorkshire and Humber region is a thriving one, and we’ve done all we can to promote this growth.

“One of the key things we’ve done is set up Digital Region, a partnership of local authorities and public sector organisations that have joined forces to provide high-speed internet access for more than 40,000 businesses and over a million homes in South Yorkshire.

“Through schemes such as this we hope to enable the continued growth of the sector in our region, which will benefit the local and national economy in the long-term.”

Anyone interested in attending the free event should register at www.techmesh.org/expo. Doors open at 09:00 and close at 17:30.
