ZOO has unique experience in the localization of a wide variety of products, from printed marketing materials to web sites, DVDs and Blu-ray Discs.
 
We are generally focused on the worldwide digital media production markets and in particular entertainment, games and toys, where our customers include Hollywood studios and other producers and publishers of video-based products. Our software technologies transform digital workflows, through re-engineering traditional processes and we provide a range of associated production and custom development services.
 
ZOO employs over 100 staff in its office locations in the UK and USA. The Company is headquartered in Sheffield, UK, where it operates its software product development facility, creating its media transformation suite to enable significant efficiencies for a wide range of production and creative services. ZOO’s production facility is based in Los Angeles, California, from which it operates teams engaged in providing creative and production services for clients primarily in the entertainment industry. The Los Angeles location places ZOO close to the major Hollywood studios, a number of which are significant customers.
 
Customers include some of the world’s largest entertainment groups for which ZOO provides a range of services to cost efficiently transform existing media associated with feature films, episodic TV content, videogames and other consumer products into a variety of different language and format versions and other derivatives. This enables ZOO’s customers to create international products and marketing campaigns more quickly, efficiently and at a lower cost.
 
The Web Developer Role
 
We are seeking an adaptable individual who can help us to accelerate the development of our innovative products. The role, based in the Sheffield office, would involve working with the existing team on current and future products.
 
Qualifications:
 
Essential
  • Programming experience in Java, C++ or JavaScript
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills: written, verbal and presentation.
  • Web technologies, e.g. HTML, Javascript, Jquery, ajax
  • Experience using XML, Databases and SQL
Desirable
  • Apache server configuration
  • Web application frameworks
  • Python, PHP and Ruby
  • Microsoft Silverlight
  • Experience using and programming on OS X
  • Linux use and configuration
Beneficial
  • Video and/or DVD creation
  • Graphic Design software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Fireworks
  • Multimedia tools such as video and graphics editing applications, e.g. Adobe Flash, Adobe After Effects.
 
Terms and conditions of employment
 
ZOO’s standard hours of work are Monday to Friday 9am until 5.30pm with a one hour lunch break. ZOO encourages a flexible approach by employees to their working hours, as dictated by the needs of the business.
 
The annual holiday entitlement is 25 days plus UK public holidays.
 
Other benefits include car parking, pension contributions and life insurance cover.
 
Salary package will be competitive and the exact level would depend on the level of experience of the successful candidate.
