Copenhagen, Innovation and the Race to tackle Climate Change

This event will demonstrate how Yorkshire and Humber is leading the way in the innovation race to a low carbon economy and rising to the challenge of climate change.

The Yorkshire Science and Technology Network aims to increase collaboration between innovative companies based in the Yorkshire and Humber region and the outstanding technology research base that exists within the region’s higher education institutions.

19.00 Welcome and Introduction Simon Hill, Director of Business, Yorkshire Forward

19.10 Keynote Speaker Dr Jon Price, Director, Centre for Low Carbon Futures - Jon Price will present his thoughts following his visit to the Copenhagen Conference and will put CLCF’s ground breaking work towards the low carbon economy in context. Jon will also discuss the impacts of International Climate Policy, (including views from UN discussions in Copenhagen) and how Yorkshire Universities are contributing to a low carbon economy

19.40 Keynote Speaker Dr David Richards, Managing Director, Vivergo Fuels Limited - David Richards is the Managing Director of Vivergo Fuels Ltd, a joint venture company of BP, British Sugar and DuPont. The business is building a world scale wheat to bioethanol plant at Saltend, Hull for the supply of biofuel to the European market, and high protein animal feed to the UK livestock market. David will highlight the global scene around biofuels focussing on their supply chain, the regional impact of biofuels and their response to climate change.
